69 an hour 5 days ago 5 days ago 5 days ago Billing & AR Follow Up Specialist Ellie Mental Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate individual that will conduct insurance verifications, manage post claims processing, and patient balances.
The Billing & AR Follow Up Specialistposition is accountable for timely investigation and follow up on all outstanding insurance and patient accounts receivable, communicate with patients regarding their outstanding balance, collecting balances and managing refunds.
This position is part time, Monday through Friday.
The position is primarily remote with some in-office time needed for training and regular reporting.
No nights, no weekends - hours during daytime are flexible.
$19 - $21 per hour This is a W2 position and part time with approximately 30-40 hours per week.
Ellie Mental Health will provide technology as necessary.
Essential Job Functions and Duties:
Conduct insurance verifications to understand patient insurance benefits and document in EHR.
Collaborate with behavioral health providers as needed, and to obtain outstanding documentation.
Reviews electronic remittance advice (ERA) to reconcile with patient balances.
Monitor and follow up on unpaid or denied claims, including appeals and resubmissions, to ensure timely reimbursement and resolution of payment issues.
Work closely with clinic billing team to resolve errors.
Sends patient statements, settle patient balances and manages patient payment plans.
Places outbound calls to patients regarding past due balances or defaulted payment plans.
Takes inbound calls and emails from patients regarding account questions.
Reviews patient credit balances and processes refunds as needed.
Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations in handling and protecting sensitive behavioral health information.
Report regularly on assigned billing responsibilities including AR, trends, payments, balances, and claim errors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of claims including creation, submission, managing rejects, and declines.
Set up and maintain EFT and ERA with payers.
Posting payments received from insurance companies and clients.
Managing insurance aging reports & contacting payers to investigate claim status.
Managing payer audit requests.
Necessary Skills/Abilities/Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Desired minimum 2 years' experience in medical billing.
Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.
Solid understanding of medical insurance billing, deductibles, and copays.
Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
Must be able to demonstrate calm, rational thinking and clear communication when faced with deadlines and customer demands.
Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Familiarity health record (EHR) system Valant is a major plus (candidates with this experience will be given preference).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities.
